Jews and Muslims have their children circumcised de rigueuer due to their religious belilef.
Orthodox Hindus and Sikhs do not generally have their children circumcised as they believe whatever God has given must stay with them throughout their life. Sikhs are believed not even to remove their pubic hair.
But there are excepions among Hindus. I am told that certain communities in Souh India have their childre circumsised due to the influence of Nawabs of Hyderabad.
Hindu traders used to travel to North West Frontier Province (NWFP) in the undivided India. They went even beyond to Kabul and Kandhar. Some of them had their families with them and they settled there. Among these traders some had only daughers. Some among them sought the blessings of a son at the Dargahs and mosques there. The Mullah wanted them to have their blessed sons circumcised as a thanks giving to the Dargah or mosque, which they agreeed and kept ther word despite the tabo.
Even in post-Independent India some Hindus had to have themselves circumcised on their doctor's advice. No to talk of those whos found this remedy excerllent against masterbation.
